[Music] hello everyone I'm Dr harikumar senior consultant Department of ctvs narana Health rur cabg sometimes commonly called as bipass surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgeries all over the world bypass surgery or cabg is the surgical treatment for uh blockages in the coronary arteries which Supply blood to the heart it is also the most extensively researched operation because it has got a certain mortality benefit mortality benefit means it increases the lifespan of the patient the risk of surgery is around 2 to 3% it also depends on the heart's condition as well as the condition of the arteries in the heart that means the success rate is almost 95 to 98% so what do we do in CBG or otherwise called bypass surgery what we do is we take um the patient's own arteries and veins and use them to bypass the blocks in these arteries with sometimes the surgery is done with the help of the heart lung machine sometimes it is done on a beating heart otherwise called as beating heart surgeries what we do here it's almost like 95% of the surgeries is done on beating heart and the rest of them is done with the help of heartlink machine CB is a major surgery which is usually done uh through an incision in front of the chest sometimes it can also be done from the side of the patients chest wall which is which is otherwise called as minimally invasive cardiac surgery uh in a few selected patients minimal invasive cardiac surgery can also be done the advantage of this minimal invasive surgery is that the patient recovers soon the car is small and it cannot be seen by others after the surgery the patient usually stays in the hospital for 6 days and is discharged on the sixth or seventh day depending on his condition and uh at the time of his discharge the patient is encouraged uh to slowly resume his normal activities routine activities and slowly start walking and also some physiotherapy exercises by the end of one month he can resume his normal duties or start working though many people consider um cabg as a major and morbid procedure is it not it is not so it is uh a very common procedure with the few risks involved and the success rate is almost 95 to 98% the benefits of this surgery is number one it increases the lifespan with the patient it improves the lifestyle of the patient allowing him to do his normal activities and regular activities and it also reduces the chance of a heart attack immensely thank you [Music]
