Dane Cook Has Never Touched Alcohol But…

I'm 50 but I've never had a drink in my life but I would go to AAA meetings I would go with friends that would sometimes do comedy gigs and say I need a meeting I feel like I want to drink and I would say I'll take you and I would sit in these rooms and it was harrowing it was sometimes negative and yet there was a truth happening in here that I just craved because I wanted to be able to speak that truthfully about hating myself and also like I was dealing with alcoholism in my family my dad drank and it made for a convoluted youth she never quite knew what we were going to get with my dad who was both a brilliant and fascinating and loving person as well as a person who just didn't always like himself and then didn't know how to communicate that but I'd sit in these rooms and I was so proud of these people I think I was looking for that level of honesty so I could understand myself better
