if we find that a young child in an infancy or in the early years of childhood has a urinary tract infections invariably we have seen that there will be an underlying structural anomaly Associated and what are these structural issues that I'm talking about these are something called the vric reflux which can happen in both boys as well as girls or it may be something called the posterior valves which is more common in boys these are the conditions in which urinary tract infection is a presenting symptoms when this happens of course we have to deal with the infection itself and something is labeled as a urinary tract infection if the child has three of the symptoms that is high grade fever they have uh urine which is showing pels when we test the urine in the lab and also if the urine culture that is a test in which we detect the growth of organisms if all three come positive then then the child is called as having a urinary tract infection
