what if I told you that problems in your nose could be a signal that you might have problems down there I'm Dr Veena Malek urologist and pelvic surgeon and if you're new here I make content every Monday and Friday so if you like what you see make sure to subscribe and share this Channel with your friends now you must be thinking what how does my nose have anything to do with my penis well I previously actually made a video about how penile length is related to the length of your nose but this one's a little different so let's start off with the basics there's a condition called chronic Rhino sinusitis it's basically long-term inflammation of the Linings in the nose and the sinuses and while it sounds like something that's not really a big deal it can actually significantly impact a person's daily life imagine waking up every morning with a stuffy nose and headache that never seems to go away feeling tired all the time and really not able to smell or taste your favorite foods this is the reality for a lot of people who suffer with this condition and it can really affect their quality of life it can even make it hard to work effectively enjoy social activities and even complete basic daily tasks now how is this related to erectile dysfunction well researchers from Harvard decide to look into this they gathered information from medical records of over 17 000 adult men and they were prescribed medication for Ed or didn't receive any medication for Ed and then they looked at these patients and matched them based on age race and health they then compared the proportion of patients who had erectile dysfunction or received a medication for Ed and had an associate diagnosis of chronic Rhino sinusitis with those that didn't have any medications for Ed and they found that 534 men who had Ed also had CRS or chronic Rhino sinusitis compared to 266 men that did not have erectile dysfunction so essentially men who had erectile dysfunction were two times more likely to have sinusitis now how does this even make sense well one possible explanation is that chronic Rhino sinusitis and erectile dysfunction both involve inflammation and damage to the blood vessels chronic sinusitis can cause inflammation in the blood vessels of the nose and the sinus cavities which can lead to reduced blood flow and oxygen delivery to the tissues including reduced nitric oxide production this is very similar to what we see in erectile dysfunction where you have reduced blood flow inflammation to the blood vessels and reduce nitric oxide or the ignition for erections also some theorize that because you have chronic sinusitis it may impair your sleep which can then affect sexual function now what does this mean for you well if you're suffering from either condition I think it's great to see your doctor and discuss what the options are because neither of these are really fun to deal with and fixing inflammation in one area may end up helping fix inflammation overall so if you have chronic sinusitis talk to your primary care doctor or an otolaryngologist or ENT Physician and if you have problems with erectile dysfunction talk to your primary doctor or a urologist I hope you guys found this interesting and as always or take care of yourself because you are worth it foreign [Music]
