hello everyone I'm Dr Vin Kumar Gotham consultant orthopedic and a sports injury manipal hospital karadi today I will talk about a sports injury related to ankle and foot usually the ligament that got injured while exports is ankle something called interior tibio fibular ligament atfl injury is quite common that's the grading of the injury is grade 1 grade 2 grade three that depends on the severity of the injury we usually do x-ray to just diagnose any kind of fracture associated with the ligament injury or not if grade 1 grade two we do a some kind of ankle binder or we can apply a plaster support to give restk to that part the patient has to do a limb elevation restricted mobilization is very important icing is very important in maximum case grade three needs a plaster cast after one or two weeks and that patient has to be immobilized for at least 4 to 6 weeks completely and followed by some Rehabilitation Physiotherapy in very rare case in complete tear that is not going to heal in 4 to 6 weeks then we have to do M scan and some kind of surgical intervention is required if that's complete tear and a kind of non-healing kind of ligament injury regarding foot that's called L frank ligament injury is quite common that one ligament that's very important to maintain the foot medial Arch so that attaches to the second metatarsal base many of times we do clinically examine the patient we see x-ray sometimes CT or mrss can is required usually that also needs a plaster support application sometimes in the displaced kind of fracture with the base of metatarsal second third associated with the first then that needs surgical intervention in all case the restricted immobilization is very important Lim elevation is very important so the swelling will reduce and the healing will be fast followed by some exercise so always to avoid any kind of ankle and foot injury you have to do proper warm up and stretching before game see the the ground level even ground should be there it should not be any kind of uh uneven surface so the injury will be less do proper stretching do proper cool down after a sports that's very important if any kind of ankle injury don't take it lightly consult your doctor and got treatment first thank you
