does fidia agrestis really work for increasing testosterone levels I'm Dr Reena Malik urologist and pelvic surgeon and today we're diving into a topic that's been generating quite a bit of Buzz the impact of fedoa agrestis on testosterone levels now before I get into the video I just want to remind you that I have this free ebook out right now called better sex better life that dives into my top 10 tips to improve your sex life if you want to check it out it's completely free with a link in the description below in this video we're going to review the scientific evidence on whether fedoa agrestis truly benefits your Hormone Health as a urologist I often see men who are Keen to optimize their testosterone and when you have low testosterone increasing it can be lifechanging it can improve overall well-being fatigue decrease libido and even muscle loss if you're a man interested in optimizing your Hormone Health you're in the right place so what EX exactly is fedoa agrus so it's a plant that's native to Africa and it's been used traditionally in herbal medicine for various purposes and one of the most talked about benefits is its potential to boost testosterone but does the science add up so it's believed that fedoa has phytochemicals like alkaloids and saponins I've talked about in previous videos about testosterone boosters that ultimately May supplement the production of test testosterone in the testes and influence the hypothalamic pituitary gonal access meaning the signals from the brain to the testicles some theorize that this is due to increasing levels of LH which tells the testes to produce more testosterone however the true mechanism hasn't been completely determined normally if you guys are new here I never talk about animal studies but unfortunately the only peer reviewed published research on fidia aggress tce is in rats so we're going to talk about it researchers gave different doses of the aquous extract of fedoa grus to 60 male rats at 24-hour intervals and they assessed their sexual behavior as well as their serum testosterone concentrations over a period of 5 days they saw a significant increase in serum testosterone concentrations in all the groups so the groups are based on the various doses of the plant extract either 18 milligrams per kilogram 50 Mig per kilg or 100 mg per kilog of body weight and this led to a 2 three or sixfold increase in serum testosterone levels compared to the control groups who didn't get any by the end of the experimental period another animal study found that there was potentially some toxicity to the liver kidney and testicles of the rats who received fogia agrestis for a total of 28 days and this ultimately led to a reduction in the function of these organs now in terms of human studies there are no peer-reviewed published studies investigating the effects of fedoa agrestis on human testosterone levels most of what is being discussed is from people reporting their own individual experiences with supplementing with fedoa ausus or extrapolating dosing from animal studies and to be quite honest we are not just large rats we are humans and we have very different physiologic mechanisms compared to WRA so until we have solid large scale human trials we should generally approach the claims about fedoa agrestis with a healthy dose of skepticism and generally personal anecdotes can't replace scientific evidence particularly because we don't know what the long-term effects of supplementing with something like this is and what the potential harm associated with it is if you want to learn more about supplementation for testosterone boosting make sure to check out my playlist on testosterone boosting supplements for the evidence behind them so you can make an informed decision now I generally recommend always getting your testosterone levels checked and evaluated And discussing that with your doctor if you are truly having symptoms of low testosterone and your testosterone is low it's important to discuss the potential benefits of testosterone replacement therapy now you don't have to supplement with testosterone replacement therapy however it's important to know the benefits and the risks and also talk about the natural ways to improve testosterone and check out my video on that to discuss appropriately if you decide to get testosterone replacement please be sure to get monitored by a physician rather than purchasing supplementation in some nefarious way I hope you guys found this helpful as always I'm going to take care of yourself because you are worth it
